Teaching preschool Spanish today- I wore my gold cape and crown = corona. The kids asked if I was Superman or a Spanish princess.
El Día de los Reyes Magos = The Day of the Three Magi Kings is today-January 6. Hispanic children place their shoes by the door before going to bed. While they sleep the Three Kings, “Melchor, Gaspar y Baltazar” come and leave a gift. Traditionally, children would only get gifts from the Kings and not for Christmas, but now they may get gifts for both holidays. The Rosca/Roscón de Reyes = Cake of the Kings / Panettone is a fruitcake eaten on this holiday. A coin or small plastic baby “Jesus” is often hidden inside the cake. The person that finds the baby has to host the next party. IDEA: Make a King’s cake and give a crown to the person that finds the baby or surprise your kids at home by hiding a sticker, candy or $1 in their shoe.
